Independent Student       2009 - 2010

An Independent Student is one who meets one or more of the following criteria.  If you do not meet at least one of the criteria, you are automatically a dependent student and your parent(s) information must be provided.


  1.  Were you born before January 01, 1986 ?
  2.  Are you married ?
  3.  Will you be working on a Masters Degree ?
  4.  Do you have children that you provide half of their support ?
  5.  Do you have any other dependents ?
  6.  Are your parents deceased, or are you a ward of the court ?
  7.  Are you currently serving on active duty ?
  8.  Are you a veteran of the Armed Forces (Minimum one Full Term) ?
  9.  At any time after the age of 13, were you a foster child ?
10.  Are you an emancipated minor in your legal state ?
11.  Are you in legal guardianship in your legal state ?
12.  Were you ever classified to be  a homeless youth   ?
